Frequently Asked Questions
Delivery Timing/Method
The IRIS Modules selected by your school or district are available in your account as soon as you receive your welcome letter. Please remember to log in to your account to access your modules and receive your PD certificate. Note that although similar IRIS Modules can be accessed via the IRIS Center’s open access website or through online search engines, these will not record your progress in this platform and no certificate can be awarded.
Navigating the IRIS PD Platform
After logging in, the My Modules landing page shows the modules that have been selected for you by your school or district. In addition, there are two links in the top right corner of the page.
- My Account shows the modules in which you have been enrolled and allows you to view your progress and PD certificates.
- Help & Support provides answers to frequently asked questions.
How do I complete an online module?
To start working through your first module:
- Go to either the My Modules landing page or My Account link in the top menu. Select the module you wish to complete.
- Take the pretest.
- Work through the module.
- Take the posttest. Note: You may take the posttest a total of three (3) times. After that, no further retries are permitted. Your certificate will reflect your highest score.
- Click on the certificate icon for the completed module to generate your certificate.
- Print or download the certificate.
How much time does it take to complete a module?
Estimated completion times are listed on the module’s landing page and vary based on the length of the module. You are not required to complete the module in one session but can return to the module as many times as needed to complete it.
How much time do I have to complete the pre and posttests?
There is no time limit for the pretest and posttests. If you cannot complete the pre or posttest in one session, you will lose the data and will be required to start over. You have three opportunities to take the posttest. After that, no further retries are permitted. Your certificate will reflect your highest score.
Do I have another chance to take the posttest if I fail on the first attempt?
Yes. You can take the posttest up to three (3) times. After that, no further retries are permitted. Your certificate will reflect your highest score.
What if I do not earn the score my district requires after three attempts?
If you did not earn your required or preferred score on the posttest, please contact your school or district administrator.
How many questions are in each test?
There are 10 questions in each pretest and 20 questions in each posttest.
Can I access the online modules from any computer?
Yes. To access your account, log in to irisplus.org using your school/district email address and password.
Can I select several modules at the same time?
Yes. You can work on more than one module at a time.
Can I view a sample certificate?

Web Accessibility
The IRIS Center is proud to maintain a website that meets the compliance regulations and criteria for online accessibility expressed in the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG). More rigorous even than Section 508 of the U.S. Rehabilitation Act, the WCAG were developed through the World Wide Web Consortium’s (W3C’s) Web Accessibility Initiative (WAI) to create the highest possible standard for online accessibility for people with disabilities and across a wide variety of devices. The IRIS+ website currently meets WCAG 2.2 Accessibility Standards. In addition to periodic tests and evaluation by individuals with disabilities, the IRIS Website features:
- Keyboard navigation: The IRIS Website allows simple navigation via your keyboard. Use the “tab” key to cycle through the links and buttons on a given page and tap “enter” to make your selection.
- Alt text descriptions of pictures and graphics: We include alt text descriptions of the photos and descriptions of the artwork, tables, and graphs that appear in IRIS Modules and other resources.
- Consistent navigation across sections and online features: Every section of the IRIS Website was carefully considered and designed with a consistency of form and function in mind. Accessibility features present on one page are present on every page.
- Video captioning: All IRIS Challenge videos, video interviews, and instructional demonstrations are closed captioned.
- Transcripts of all audio and video features and written descriptions of video presentations not featuring speech or dialogue: The IRIS Center creates transcripts of every audio and video feature on the site, including those videos that might not include dialogue. Simply click on the link beneath the audio or video to access its text version.
As further innovations in website accessibility become available, the IRIS Center will review all current features and layouts, striving always to make our website a more welcoming place for anyone who wishes to visit.
